Job Summary

(General overview of the job)

The person will be in charge of maintaining and expanding sales of Japan Major Automobile OEM and its Tier companies. Mainly responsible for B&J products (Bonding & Joining materials, i.e., tape-related products), with sales of around 6 billion yen in 2023. With basic knowledge of the products, the person is responsible for maintaining and expanding sales by understanding customer needs and providing appropriate solutions.

In addition, the company aims to maximize the sales amount efficiently by leading and consulting distributors. The person will work with internal resources, the sales department supervisor, and the sales department employees for advice in problem solving, as well as with the marketing, technical, and manufacturing departments. Strong internal and external communication skills are required.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Establishment and Achievement of Objectives: The most important task is to achieve the assigned customer's sales target. He/she will work with the advice of his/her supervisor in the performance of his/her tasks. Aim not only to maintain existing business, but also to expand sales opportunities with new products and applications.

  2. Sales and Marketing: Understand 3M's brand and innovation story and use sales skills to make proposals to customers. Utilize internal resources (SFDC, CTC, and other departments) to demonstrate the advantage of 3M's products to customers and make value propositions.3. Coordination and Planning: Flex time working. The customer visitation plan is made and executed by the employee. Always receive advice and cooperation from supervisors regarding action plans. Manage his/her own expenses as directed by his/her supervisor.4. Administration: Report on activities in accordance with the methods established by the department. Prepare and report monthly and annual sales forecasts based on customer information.5. Leadership: He/she will act as a representative of 3M to customers. He/she will also utilize a wide range of internal resources to address individual issues, and will occasionally lead teams to coordinate among departments.6. Development: We value a constant desire for self-improvement. We seek to learn about products, industry trends, customer trends, etc., and to be able to link this to our sales activities.7. Policy: Ask to have high awareness of the Code of Conduct and act in accordance with 3M's and the division's Code of Conduct.

The job also requires performing other duties as assigned. Percentages of time spent on job duties are estimates and may vary for each job.

Qualifications:

University degree level of education.

English conversation skills at TOIEC 600 level (or basic business conversation).

Driver's license

Business PC literacy (Microsoft Excel、Word)

(preferable to)

Experience of sale representative for two or more years in industry market

Fully competent in utilizing selling skills.

Continues to develop the ability to influence, communicate, and coordinate.

Also requires listening, interpersonal, negotiating, presentation, planning, administrative and analytical skills.

Requires use of computers, including basic Personal Computer (PC) software, specialized sales software, and on-line sales support systems.

Demonstrates in-depth understanding of product lines, customer segments and their needs, internal functional needs, and competitive products, prices and policies.

Works from guidelines, using individual reasoning when deviating from these guidelines.

Modifies and adapts behavior to changes in the situation or environment to reach goals.

Examines all available information in problem situations and uses prior experience to determine the best solution.

When necessary, the supervisor or more senior co-workers are consulted for assistance in problem areas.

Leverages working relationships with key people in accounts and/or distributors at all levels.

Must influence those contacts to exceed sales objectives.

Represents the company in a manner consistent with 3M's business conduct code and business unit expectations while also promoting the company image.

Multinational/global contacts may be required.

Local Job Specific or Legal Specific Requirements

Working Location: Nagoya (Aichi) Japan

No local office, so in addition to working remotely from home, team meetings are held as needed at the company's contracted rental office.

Customer visits will be conducted by company car.

May be required to relocate due to changes in customer base. (Tokyo, Osaka)
