GRIMMWAY ENTERPRISES, INC. EHS MANAGER in Arvin, California

To oversee the companies environmental, health, and safety programs and assist in the development and implementation of corporate policies and procedures that effectively control incidents, exposures, and risk.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise and direct EHS staff.
  • Implement and maintain all company and government required programs.
  • Oversee the evaluation of EHS conditions and practices, and the development of control practices and programs.
  • Assists in communicating EHS information and evaluate effectiveness of said practices.
  • Analyze statistics and make recommendations for correction of problem areas.
  • Keep apprised of developments in federal and state laws likely to affect the company.
  • Expected to assist with cost-control efforts, participate in manufacturing improvement committees, and the like.
  • An EHS Manager may be given a specific area of primary responsibility within EHS or Grimmway.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout much of the working day. Ability to move about inside the office and food processing facilities. Ability to operate a computer and other productivity equipment. Must be able to work in different temperatures (working temperatures as hot as 100 to 110 F and as cold as -20 F to 32 F). Must be able to work in a high noise area. Work in wet and damp environment.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree preferred in Safety Engineering, Environmental Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.Job experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirement.
  • Five (5) years of professional experience in manufacturing or Ag industry preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experience a plus.
  • Knowledge and expertise in Safety compliance laws, procedures, and regulations.
  • Appropriate related certifications (CSP, Ag Safety Certificate, Hazardous Waste Management, QAL, etc.) a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience working with governmental agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency, California Reginal Water Quality Control Board, California Air Resources Board, Department of Transportation, Air Pollution Control Districts, Department of Toxic and Substance Control, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Must possess strong verbal, written, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  • Must have strong computer and analytical skills.
  • Must be bi-lingual, English/Spanish, with the ability to speak, read, and write in both.
  • Must have a valid drivers license with a clean DMV driving record.
  • Must pass pre-placement drug/alcohol screen and background check.
