VPC Builders is a full-service construction firm specializing in commercial and residential construction, custom home building, Green Building, and remodeling in North Carolina. We have successful projects by communicating and working closely with our clients and a carefully chosen group of architects, subcontractors, and suppliers. Establishing a budget, putting together a construction schedule, understanding the permit process and working through the many design decisions to be made, are only a few of the key aspects of our collaboration with our clients.

VPC Builders is currently seeking an experienced, result-oriented construction superintendent to work in a team environment. The Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the onsite responsibilities of their assigned project(s) in addition to coordinating between the company, subcontractors, and client as required throughout the construction process of each project. Strong leadership and organizational skills are a must to for this position.

Candidates must provide their own transportation and be available to travel in the state.

Job Requirements

  • Documentation is a fundamental component of the Superintendents responsibility.
  • The Project Superintendent must know what it is, when and how it must be done, who must be doing it, and exactly what their contribution to the complete effort must be.
  • Report to the Project Manager and carry out their directives with respect to field operations.
  • Work to assure there is adequate staffing of the workforce, supply of materials, and have complete information as necessary for construction.
  • Planning for staffing, materials, and information in advance so as not to interfere with the progress of any one component.
  • Generating, securing, and confirming all information needed to create, monitor, and modify the progress schedule on a continuing basis.
  • Help to develop the progress schedule with the Project Manager. Work with the Project Manager to develop and administer the site utility plan, site services, security arrangements, safety program, and other facilities and arrangements necessary for appropriate service to the construction effort.
  • Monitoring the actual work of all versus required performance by all parties and work to bring deviating performances back in line. Determine whether all Subcontractors are providing sufficient workforce and hours of work to actually achieve committed promises of performance.
  • Monitor the performance of the Companys purchasing and project managing efforts to ensure that all subcontracts, material purchases, submittals, deliveries, clarifications, and changes are processed in time to guarantee that they arrive at the jobsite by or before the time needed.
  • Directing any company field staff.
  • Being thoroughly familiar with the requirements of the general contract, and thereby identifying changes, conflicts, etc., that are beyond the scope of Company responsibility.
  • Prepare daily reports, photographic documentation, back charges, notice documentation, and other special documentation as may be determined by the company and by project needs.
  • Always represent VPC Builders in a professional manner

Skills and specifications:

  • Must be attentive to detail
  • Possess good communication skills
  • Must have good coordination skills
  • Comfortable with directly interacting with clients in person, phone and in meetings

Education requirements:

* This is preferred but not required*

A degree in Construction Workeragement, Civil Engineering or Construction Project Management

*Criminal Background and drug test may be required. Applicant must be able to hold/maintain a NCDL while per orming all of the above job duties. Must be able to lift 50-70lbs.
