The Dry Etch Equipment Engineer role can be broadly defined as the responsibility for the installation, functionality, and maintenance of an equipment toolset. This includes all the hardware and software in the toolset, as well as the interface to any other systems that the tool must connect to for its proper operation. The Engineer is expected to maintain the tool performance as measured by availability to production and primary quality metrics. Categorization and Pareto analysis should always drive the priority of the work within the area. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Safety & Quality:
Finishes the required safety training and conducts all work in accordance with safety policies and laws
Follows-up on safety and quality related issues immediately and works towards resolution with team members
Performs and facilitates audits and submits good catches on safety issues
Proactively reduces incidents of personal injuries, safety hazards or environmental releases
Operates and maintains tools according to documentation and guidelines to ensure quality and safety expectations are met
Ensures proper tool documentation/reaction mechanisms exist for shift teams and submits updates to content when needed
Maintains a constant improvement program for defect reduction / yield improvement
Reviews and documents XLD issues to ensure root cause, follow-up documentation, and communication across TD & HVMs
Reviews and identifies hardware related failures and creates and drives plans to fix root-cause
Communication & Teamwork:
Partners with suppliers to resolve tool problems, defect issues, and improve tool availability
Improves communication and collaboration with vendors and area, department, and network partners
Collaborates with supervisor and areas leaders to create personal performance and development goals
Communicates proactively with MDE shift and Shift Operations leaders on the daily priorities and issues
Attends and participates in DAM, CIP, TPM Core Team, Tool Install and other meetings
Maintains strong vendor relationships to ensure Microns the best interests are met
Partners with Process Engineers and shift Engineers/Technicians to capture input for area improvement
Communicates changes made to equipment and follow business rules for change control
Partners with HVMs in data collection, gap analysis, and improvement implementation as part of Benchmarking activities
Proactively communicates issues that could cause yield loss, excursions, defects, tool restrictions, or output loss
Ensures pass down is updated and accurately reflects the work instructions to shift each day
Technical/Data Analysis:
Analyzes data to make critical decisions and drive cost reduction activities
Provides fixing support for issues and address main causes
Serves as a key area resource for technical support and/or providing required technical resources to support TD requirements
Identifies and develops a strategy for each workstation that will improve PM frequencies
Partners with HVM sites to identify gaps and opportunities for workstation efficiencies, such as reviewing SPC, ETI, and Y3 to identify PM frequency optimization opportunities
Handles and keeps track of all installations, upgrades and evaluations
Maintains tool matching and drives machine hardware and s/w consistency
Efficiently plans for required capacity and product mix by ensuring equipment is capable of running variance as projected
Handles all BOM and SAP PM lists to ensure they are accurate and up to date
Provides effective and timely guidance to resolve equipment issues and is highly engaged in key problem resolution
Drives an environment of TPM including TPM metrics, WS health reports, CIP items, MTAGs, MOP documents and restoration guides
Leads proper inventory levels including ATIR, dead inventory, kitting BOMs, vendor recommended spare parts, etc.
Project Management/Planning:
Runs projects to ensure work is completed within the required scope, schedule and budget
Is responsible for actions and provides issue path or resources to ensure actions will be completed on time
Drives shift team to focus on priority issues and stay within the scope of the project
Coordinates and leads meetings and initiates follow-up actions
Supports department business processes for new tool installations, as well as existing tool modifications or removals
Partners with Procurement, PDE, PI, IE, and Shift Ops on new tool/chamber purchases (QPUP, QPODS)
Successful Candidates will have the following Qualifications:
PC skills including a familiarity with MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point, MICAP, Ariba, and MAXIMO
Process flow related to area equipment
Strong leadership with the proven track record to coordinate efforts across a variety of groups
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to efficiently organize teams and projects
Lead and coordinate meetings and initiate follow-up actions
Strong partnering, negotiation and teamwork skills
Understanding of the Fab process areas including area processing equipment
Knowledge of the main utility systems supplied by the Facilities group
Strong understanding of SPC principles
Communicate and present optimally to all audiences
Intermediate data extraction, analysis, and reporting skills
Multi-task projects, solve problems and address root causes, Strong analytical problem solving skills
Intermediate understanding of physics, area chemistry, and algebraic concept
Time management, organization, and prioritization skills, Tackle issues related to process flows, Follow procedures and work with min direction
Education:
- Required: Associates of Applied Science in Electronics Engineering (or similar, including military training) and 6 years shown experience. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in an Engineering related field
