Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Interface with interstate gas transmission pipeline representatives, perform mandated regulator equipment inspections and maintenance. Support central & regional sponsored gas distribution capital and maintenance projects, mandated safety inspections, telecommunication installations and maintenance activities.

  • Provide department manager with accurate and timely information concerning activities and performance.

  • Assist with regional operating sections, and manage the activities associated with developing and reviewing performance in relation to the department's goals and standards. Prioritize various field operations including seasonal pressure adjustments, annual performance tests, periodic inspections programs, installation and maintenance of industrial customer regulator piping and equipment.

  • Administer and communicate operating procedures, engineering, plans, and specifications to ensure proper installation and repair of Gas distribution facilities.

  • Monitors and analyzes activities to insure attainment of Corporate and PSC related performance goals and standards as it relates to the department.

  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of work experience in the operation and maintenance of a gas distribution system or

  • Associate's Degree and 4 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a gas distribution system or

  • High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a gas distribution system

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Associate's Degree and 4 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a gas distribution system

Relevant Work Experience

  • 2 years Gas regulators and elevated pressure regulating equipment maintenance experience Required and

  • Knowledge of gas transmission and distribution systems Required and

  • Ability to use small hand and power tools Required and

  • Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office Required and

  • Print reading and interpreting gas pipeline layouts Required and

  • Byers and Gas Vision mapping systems Preferred and

Physical Demands

  • Must respond to system emergencies

  • Must work at field locations in all weather conditions

  • Must perform extended driving through heavy traffic and severe off-road conditions

  • Must perform heavy manual labor; i.e. pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds

  • Must carry tools and materials, climb ladders and scaffolds, and enter confined spaces

  • Must work in an environment that includes heat, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations

  • Must climb ladders and stairs

  • Must work on elevated platforms, scaffolds, catwalks, roofs, or equipment

  • Must enter underground vaults through manholes

  • Must work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)

  • Must work with and in the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems

  • Must be approved and able to wear either a full- or half-face respirator without facial hair or other condition that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations.

  • Must be approved and able to wear a full- or half-face respirator and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), without facial hair or other condition that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations.

  • Must climb in and out of manholes and excavations

  • Must stand, walk, and climb ladder and stairs for a whole shift

  • Must walk, stand, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach

  • Must travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies

  • Must use eye-hand coordination to adjust controls on equipment

  • Must wear all necessary personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including; fire retardant clothing and safety harness

  • Must work with equipment with manufacturer weight rating of 350 llbs.

Other Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.

  • Must be willing to be part of a team that covers the off hour emergency call out duty.

  • Must be willing to work off hours including weekends and holidays to support the departments needs.
