Position Summary:

The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for identifying, scheduling, and managing undergraduate and graduate clinical placements within the University at Buffalo School of Nursing (https://nursing.buffalo.edu/) (UB SON ). Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Identify appropriate clinical sites in hospitals, clinics, community centers, libraries, schools, and other places where registered nurses and/or advanced practice nurses are working.

  • Place students in clinical settings that the faculty have determined appropriate to the students’ learning needs and course objectives.

  • Coordinate verification and communication of credentialing requirements to clinical partners (e.g., HIPAA training, immunizations, CPR , TB, annual health clearance, influenza immunization, etc.).

  • Create clinical rotation schedules.

  • Initiate and maintain affiliation agreements with the support of the Director of Academic Operations.

  • Attend meetings at clinical affiliation agencies as required and distribute necessary information to students and faculty.

  • Maintain and update tracking software with accurate listing of all preceptors, clinical sites, and current board certification.

  • Assist in the evaluation of clinical sites.

  • Assist with coordination of lab and simulation scheduling.

  • Prepare orientation documents in BrightSpace for all students enrolled in clinical courses and track student completion.

  • Participate in student, adjunct faculty, and preceptor orientations.

  • Assist faculty with scheduling makeup clinicals for students who are absent.

  • Serve as a first point of contact for issues with student placements. Triage appropriately to supervising faculty and program coordinators.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.

  • Licensed as a registered nurse (RN) in NYS .

  • 2 years of experience working as an registered nurse (RN).

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook.

  • Excellent professional communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ideal candidate has healthcare contacts throughout WNY and has familiarity with local inpatient and community health agencies.

  • Experience with BrightSpace (learning management software) and Typhon (student tracking software).

  • Preceptor training or experience.

  • Experience with clinical DEU model.

  • Experience with new graduate residency training.
