Garmin USA Marine/RV Field Service Engineer 1 - 13177 in elkhart, Indiana

Overview

We are seeking a full-time RV Field Service Engineer in our Elkhart, IN location. In this role, you will be responsible for providing Product Support associates, dealers, and external customers with technical support and training of Garmin's consumer marine/RV systems and products while utilizing product expertise and process knowledge to help review and resolve product issue cases.

Essential Functions

  • Apply product knowledge to resolve internal, external, and commercial marine/RV Product Support inquires, including hands on installations/troubleshooting as needed
  • Become highly knowledgeable in the specifications, capabilities, and operation of Garmin products, with emphasis on Marine/RV products
  • Learn to manage product issue cases encompassing all of the marine/RV segment
  • When necessary, compose internal/external facing communication related to product issue cases
  • Participate/contribute to product related meetings with Quality Assurance and Engineering to advocate for our customers
  • Use strong writing/verbal communication skills to summarize/explain complex hardware and software issues to engineering and other relevant product groups locally/globally
  • Stay current on all marine/RV segment products/processes
  • Develop/own marine/RV segment support training as needed
  • Analyze current workflow processes and assist with their implementation
  • Analyze/communicate marine/RV segment product quality trends
  • Assist with creating written procedures regarding installation, calibration, set-up and operation of Garmin products
  • Review owner's manuals, installation manuals, and maintenance manuals for completeness, technical accuracy, and areas likely to be misinterpreted
  • Own/resolve customer Product Integrity Reports (PIR's)
  • Travel as needed to support the Field Service Team and Regional Sales Team and represent Garmin as required

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent military/trade school OR NMEA certification AND/OR an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education
  • Must possess a minimum of 4 years' experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this role
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to work effectively across functional and organizational lines
  • Must demonstrate a superior customer-oriented attitude
  • Must possess demonstrated proficiency using personal computers and software applications, including Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Must be positive, detail/quality oriented, organized, analytical, team oriented, a driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems, and a multi-tasker with the ability to prioritize and manage time in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment with excellent follow-up skills working proactively/effectively with minimal supervision

Desired Qualifications

  • 2 years of Garmin Marine/RV product installation experience
