Eyewitness News (WEHT/WTVW) serving the Evansville, Indiana, DMA is seeking aVideographerto join our news team.
TheNews Photographer/Videographer,has the ability to operate a variety of television/video cameras, live equipment and editing software to remotely transfer recorded images or scenes for news reports.
Job Summary: Thevideographer/photographercombines artistic talent, technical expertise, journalism skills and composition skills to produce video imageson a given topic as assigned to help reporters and anchors tell stories and relay facts to viewers. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Shoots and edits news video stories, including daily news, special news, features, sports, and live events.
- Able to collaborate effectively with reporters and producers in a professional manor to create fair, accurate, and compelling news stories for broadcast in a timely manner.
- Takes direction from, and interacts with, the news director, assignment desk, producers, reporters, anchors, and production control room personnel.
- Maintains and operates camera equipment as well as company vehicle safely and efficiently.
- Must be able to interact with newsmakers and conduct basic interviews when necessary.
Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Maintains positive work environment through active team participation and cooperation with co-workers in all departments.
- Responds positively to feedback.
- Ability to edit raw video to newscast form in a manner to complete the story for the viewer.
- Proficient in social networking sites. Ex: Twitter, Facebook.
- Must be detail-oriented.
- Must always present professional image as a representation of the station.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED is required. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in broadcasting, journalism, or related field preferred.
Work Environment/Mental/PhysicalRequirements: Must be able to operate computer and editing machine. Must be able to work well in what can sometimes be a high stress environment with deadline pressures and the demands of breaking news. Position will require day-to-day multi-tasking, as well as managing multiple projects simultaneously with frequent change in direction and priority. Must be willing and able to work any and all shifts as necessary, including overnights/early morning, days, nights, weekends, and holidays. []{style="ba
