Reiss Assistant Product Developer, Womenswear in London, United Kingdom

What's the role about?

As part of our Production department, you'll be joining our Womenswear team as our Assistant Product Developer who is responsible for supporting creative and commercial strategies specifically in our Jersey department, while also focusing on all aspects of product design and development.

Who you are

  • You have previous experience within an office environment

  • Previous experience in Womenswear, specifically Jersey

  • Understanding of the critical path

  • Organised and able to prioritise work load

  • Experience within fabric, buying and merchandising

  • Attention to detail and strong communication skills

  • Self-motivated and team oriented

What you'll be doing

  • Working closely with design and buying teams to develop the collection ensuring cost and production are viable. Highlight any issues with design, buying and tech to ensure range is developed on time and to the optimum specification

  • Identify opportunities to improve the product and margin. Consider route, volume of business for both materials/ yarn and product manufacture

  • Assist in supplier management to ensure product is placed with the right factory and arrange supplier meetings, visits to further develop relationships and understanding

  • Assist in Critical Path management from concept into design sketch/swatch and final buying sample

  • Build knowledge of product costings through discussion with managers, suppliers and studying cost breakdowns

  • Assist in seasonal supplier analysis/SWOT and feedback to suppliers to ensure they are clear on our forward strategy

  • Maintain the product trackers with manager. Ensure samples/swatches are received in good time for meetings, in the right yarns/fabrications and colours. Highlight any issues/delays with manager and design/buying as required

  • Challenge pricing to ensure the cost we are getting is fair and consistent by having a clear understand of the costing breakdown. Build knowledge of costing through open discussion with suppliers and manager
