UCLA Health Phlebotomy Instructor (10% Per Diem) in Los Angeles, California

You can do all this and more at UCLA Health. You will provide instruction for phlebotomy programs offered by the UCLA Center for Prehospital Care. This will involve presenting full lectures to classrooms or mini-demonstrations on practical skills to small groups of students. You will: * Instruct students on the proper application of knowledge, equipment, and skills of the laboratory profession * Perform fair, accurate, and consistent evaluation of students * Act as a student advocate in the learning process * Work and collaborate in a team-setting environment.

Hourly range: $28.78-$59.34

*Note, this is a 10% Per Diem opportunity which may convert to career.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Certification as a California Certified Phlebotomist

  • Minimum of three (3) years working as a Phlebotomist in an organization certified by State of California, Laboratory Field services.

  • Current provider certification in BLS from the American Heart Association.

  • Detailed knowledge and experience in the application and techniques of clinical equipment and supplies.

  • Working knowledge of the different scopes of practices for Trauma Technicians, Phlebotomists, EMTs, paramedics, registered nurses, and physicians.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to translate complex concepts into understandable parts

  • Available to work evenings, holidays, and/or weekends, arrive on time, and meet minimum scheduling requirements of 12 shifts per fiscal year.

  • Ability to foster a stimulating classroom environment.

  • Skill in working as part of a team collaborating with colleagues.

  • Ability to travel to off campus locations for contract instructional assignments or special projects.

  • Ability to provide service oriented customer assistance in a professional and courteous manner.

  • Ability to safely handle biohazard materials and dispose of sharps in sharps container.

  • Ability to handle emergency situations such as incapacitated students, and or biohazard occurances.

  • Interpersonal skills to excel in relations supervisor, staff, students, and the public.

Preferred:

  • Baccalaureate degree in health related field, nursing, health care administration, health care education, emergency medical services or a related field
