Job summary:

This position is on the LPSD Analytics and Condition Monitoring Team in the Product Support and Solutions organization. In the role, you will create analytics condition monitoring and product health content. You will also execute data analysis requests/projects utilizing all relevant, available enterprise data to deliver solutions for engine health problems and investigations.

What you will do:

• Execute the data gathering, data mining, and data processing processes with engine telematics data; creating appropriate product health or other data models

• Creation and deployment of original condition monitoring content for engineering support or commercial deployment

• Apply engineering and engine knowledge to data analysis to deliver solutions

• Coach and mentor less experienced team members

• Develop and learn project leadership skills by leading select, appropriate projects.

Skills you must have:

• Business Statistics: Knowledge of the statistical tools, processes, and practices to turn data into information and recommended actions.

• Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision. Application of analytics and engineering to deliver solutions.

• Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems. Evaluation and presentation of trade-offs.

• Programming Languages: Proficient computer coder. Foundational knowledge of basic concepts and capabilities of programming; ability to use tools, techniques and platforms in order to write and modify programming languages.

• Query and Database Access Tools: Knowledge of Caterpillar data management systems; ability to use, support and access facilities for searching, extracting and formatting data for further use.

• Requirements Analysis: Using engineering knowledge, engine knowledge and analytics elicit, analyze and record required functional requirements to deliver a solution.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering OR equivalent experience

Top candidates will also have:

• Formal Analytics training

• Python and/or SQL coding proficiency

• Proficiency in Tableau or Power BI

• Engine or Drivetrain Experience
