The Position

Psychiatric Caseworkers monitor the treatment and progress of mentally ill or developmentally disabled clients, perform day treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation activities, and coordinate discharge and aftercare services, in an outpatient, inpatient, clinic, residential, treatment center, client's home and other community settings.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

The Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) is recruiting for a Psychiatric Caseworker II at Rawson-Neal Psychiatric Hospital in Las Vegas. Through a multidisciplinary team approach, we provide innovative inpatient mental health services for the Southern Nevada community. The position requires basic crisis intervention techniques, documenting client progress, and assessing client needs and resources available. In addition, knowledge of case management practices and procedures, laws governing abuse and neglect of clients, treatment planning and implementation, educating clients and their families on issues of daily living, coping skills and employment are required. This position will coordinate and obtain community services for clients, actively participate in the multidisciplinary treatment team, and assist in the development of individualized treatment plans with an emphasis on utilizing the recovery model, active treatment and formulating individualized treatment plans that lead to self-sufficiency. Ensuring compliance with CMS standards, as well as established laws, regulations and SNAMHS policies is also required. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, or closely related human services field and two years of experience in a mental health or intellectual disabilities setting, one year of which must have included professional casework experience providing psychosocial rehabilitation services for a caseload consisting predominantly of individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities; OR one year as a Psychiatric Caseworker I in Nevada State Service; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education above the bachelor's degree level.

Special Requirements

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
