Siemens Energy Lead Automation Engineer in Orlando, Florida

Snapshot of your Day:

Morning Briefing: Start your day with a team briefing to discuss project status, any blockers, and priority tasks for the day. Address any concerns and provide guidance on project direction.

Project Planning and Strategy: Spend time strategizing and planning the execution of ongoing and upcoming automation projects. Coordinate with other teams and partners to align objectives and timelines.

Technical Guidance and Support: Provide technical expertise and guidance to team members as they tackle complex engineering challenges. Offer insights, review designs, and facilitate knowledge sharing sessions to foster team development.

Resource Management: Assess resource allocation and ensure that the team has the necessary tools, equipment, and support to accomplish their tasks effectively. Delegate responsibilities based on individual strengths and project requirements.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Cost cutting measures associatedwith automation programs (Field Service, Repair and Manufacturing).

  • Automation Engineer specializingin programming complex robots for process/manufacturing cost-cuttingapplications.

  • System Analysis and Design:Analyze production systems to find opportunities for automation and costreduction. Design and develop automation solutions that integrate complexrobots into existing manufacturing or operational processes.

  • Programming and Configuration:Program, configure, and optimize robotic systems to perform complex tasksefficiently. Develop custom scripts or code to enhance robot functionalityand adapt them to specific applications.

  • Robot Installation andIntegration: Supervise the installation and commissioning of roboticsystems within production lines or operational settings. Integrate robotswith other machinery, sensors, and control systems for seamless operation.

  • Optimization and Maintenance:Continuously optimize robot performance, throughput, and efficiency byfine-tuning programming and configurations. Conduct regular maintenanceand troubleshooting to ensure consistent and reliable operation ofautomated systems.

  • Collaboration withmulti-functional Teams: Work closely with mechanical engineers, electricalengineers, and other partners to ensure seamless integration of roboticsystems. Collaborate with production, quality, and operations teams tounderstand requirements and optimize processes.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering(electrical or mechanical), computer science, or a related field. Advanced(Master's or PhD) degree, or equivalent is a plus! 10+ years industryexperience.

  • Automation Experience:Significant experience in automation engineering is essential. Thisincludes designing, implementing, and maintaining automation systems andprocesses across various industries.

  • Project Management Skills: Strongproject management skills are crucial for overseeing complex automationprojects from conception to completion. Experience in planning, budgeting,resource allocation, risk management, and stakeholder communication is valuable.

  • Leadership Experience: Provenleadership experience is essential for a Lead Automation Engineer role.This includes managing teams of engineers, providing technical guidanceand mentorship, fostering collaboration, and driving team performance anddevelopment!

  • Technical Proficiency: In-depthknowledge of automation technologies, such as PLCs (Programmable LogicControllers), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems,HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), robotics, machine vision, and industrialcontrol systems, is required.

  • Software and Programming Skills:Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in automation, such asladder logic, Python, C/C++, Java, or others, is important. Familiaritywith software tools and platforms used in automation, such as Siemens TIAPortal, Allen-Bradley RSLogix, or others, is also beneficial.

  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Stronganalytical and problem-solving skills are essential for identifyingissues, troubleshooting complex problems, and implementing effectivesolutions in automation systems.

  • Regulatory Compliance Knowledge:Understanding of relevant industry standards, regulations, and safetyprotocols, such as ISO 9001, IEC 61508, ISA-95, and others, is importantfor ensuring compliance and safety in automation projects.

  • Continuous Learning andAdaptability: The field of automation is constantly evolving withadvancements in technology and industry trends. A Lead Automation Engineershould demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologiesand methodologies to stay abreast of industry developments.

  • Applicants must be legallyauthorized for employment in the United States without need for current orfuture employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employeeswith current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
