Amazon Business Intelligence Engineer, Search Experimentation and ML in Palo Alto, California

Description

The Amazon Search Ranking and Relevance team is responsible for helping customers find relevant products that meet their expectations in terms of price, quality, and convenience. Our goal is to make shopping easy and enable customers to shop with confidence. Search Analytics team helps with the goal by deeply understanding customer interactions with Search, and helping translate those lessons into insights. Teams within Search and outside use these insights to build a delightful search experience for Amazon customers WW.

We are looking for a BIE to join the team. You will design, implement, and maintain systems used to collect and analyze data at Search scale. You will work with stakeholders to understand their customer and business questions and deliver answers in a scalable and timely manner.

Key job responsibilities

You will build key pipelines, dashboards, and reports that help Search Relevance team understand the short- and long-term impact of their weblabs. You will collaborate with DS, AS, Economists, and PMs to help understand the levers that drive the search experience.

You will proactively and independently work with stakeholders to construct use cases and associated standardized outputs. You will translate difficult business problem statements into analysis requirements and maintain high bar throughout the execution.

You will have a working knowledge of the data available or needed by the wider business for more complex or comparative analysis.

You will actively manage the timeline and deliverables of projects, focusing on interactions in the team, and communicate roadblocks to stakeholders and propose solutions to overcome those roadblocks.

This is made possible by using ML models to gain deep insights into customer behaviors and preferences. Palo Alto, CA, USA

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience

  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

  • Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab

  • Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling

  • Bachelor's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field

  • Experience developing and presenting recommendations of new metrics allowing better understanding of the performance of the business

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift

  • Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $79,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
