Although we're an apparel and footwear focused company, technology is central to everything we do. Columbia Sportswear’s Digital Technology (CDT) teams enable an IT infrastructure across four global brands, a global supply chain, and 500+ geographically dispersed stores. These teams support in-store, mobile, and data platforms to enhance customer interface and service in an ever-evolving industry.

The Solutions Architect is responsible for the design and implementation of CSC's Data & Analytics (D&A) Platform. The role will spend a significant amount of time on solution design, technical collaboration, and leadership, but it will also participate in hands-on development. A successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of the platform's capabilities, resources, and domain. As a technology stack expert, the Solutions Architect will provide vision and guidance to both developers and leadership.


  • Work closely with delivery teams including business subject matter experts (SMEs) to deliver data warehousing solutions that are reliable, flexible, scalable, and provide low cost ownership.

  • Participate in the design, development, documentation, and application of best practices and procedures that govern EDW implementations.

  • Roadmap new analytic capabilities and technologies to be evolved and adopted.

  • Provide technical mentoring, guidance, and training to data and analytic engineering resources.

  • Stay informed of current technologies and best practices.

  • Work with Enterprise Architecture on enterprise strategy as the representative for the Data and Analytic Data Warehouse.


  • Able to envision a strategy, communicate and promote, and then dive in to help others achieve the vision

  • An excellent communicator that can document and present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences

  • Highly structured with the ability to organize others around you

  • A creative thought leader that is consultative in their approach


  • 5+ years experience delivering data centric solutions on warehousing, big data, and cloud platforms

  • 5+ years experience with data modeling tools such as Erwin or ER Studio

  • 5+ years experience with MS Analysis Services and Power BI or similar technologies

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in implementation and tuning MPP databases (ie: SQL Data Warehouse, Teradata)

  • 2+ years experience with distributed processing systems (ie: Apache Spark)

  • Expert SQL and query optimization techniques

  • Expert data modeling in Kimball and Inmon techniques
