Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Purpose of Position.

  • Meet customer expectations of on time delivery on a daily basis, assure customer orders are acknowledged utilizing available resources and materials management techniques.

  • Maintain raw material flow from vendor/supplier established partnerships. Interfaces between production and customer service representatives.

  • Provide mentoring to Planners & Jr Planners on technical areas and skills. Support department and organization growth by analyzing constraints and suggesting projects to implement solutions, as well as meeting the department objectives & managing the most complex product line families of the operation.

Major responsibilities and tasks of the position.

  • Analyzes customer order requirement, production capacity and material availability to acknowledge shipping dates for assigned production lines via ASI COPS system.

  • Execute and maintain Master Production Schedule as required.

  • Execute and trubleshoot MRP messages and recommendation to ensure raw material components from internal and external suppliers are ordered on time, according to our sales expectarions (forecast).

  • Ensure these components are received and forwarded to the manufacturing facility accurately and on a timmely manner.

  • Create, support & promote technicians to maintain system integrity (e.g. planning factors like leadtime schedule type, Safety Stock, planner code and/or buyer code)

  • Communicates issues/concerns related to schedule changes caused by design problems, capacity limitation or material shortages, to appropriate levels within the organization.

  • Promote, support and follow up on department & company goals (e.g. Promise of Delivery and Customer Sensitivity).

  • Communicate and follow up issues/concerns related to schedule changes caused by design problems, capacity limitation, material shortage or short lead time from customers, to the appropriate level of the organization (e.g. Supervisors, CSR, PLM, and PLMA).

  • Interact with corporate Customer Service Representatives (CSR’s) at on-going basis.

  • Interact and follow up with PLM on product behavior.

  • Work actively with PLMA to contribute to the efficiency of the forecasting of products.

  • Monitors inventory levels and strategies to maintain optimum levels to support greater inventory turns.

  • Coordinates production strategies with manufacturing and PLMA to develop stock quantities to satisfy rushed customer orders.

  • Established and maintains communication with internal/external suppliers to improve lead times, and other issues concerning to raw materials.

  • Evaluate and implement PPCs and TPC’S and support other activities related to the planning function, (e.g. update lead time and re-promise databases, etc.)

  • Support developing & mentoring of Planners & Jr Planners. Active participation on team work & leadeship efforts, in order to optimise available resources as required by the area supervisor

Education.

  • Bussiness degree or related field

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years planning experience

  • Experience with AS/400 MRP II and/or SAP systems

  • Customer services & Leadership skills

  • Analytical team player with excellent problem solving skills
