Kilian Manufacturing Corp Machine Operator in SYRACUSE, New York

POSITION SUMMARY This position exists to meet and maintain production levels by operating a line of Acme Gridley or Davenport multiple spindle screw machines, checking for quality parts in accordance with established quality and production standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:       Operates one or more previously set up multiple spindle screw machines equipped with automatic indexing and feeding mechanism to perform series of machining operations on metal bar stock.      Reads blueprint and job order for such information as dimensions, tolerances, and number of workpieces to be machined.       Verifies conformance of sample workpieces to specifications, using preset gauges, micrometers and dial indicators.       Replaces worn tools.       Adjusts machine controls and changes tool settings to keep dimensions within specified tolerances.       Operate bench grinder or cutter-grinding machine to sharpen tools.       Machine plastics or other nonmetallic materials.       May be required to have experience with particular material or product or machine of particular size, type, or trade name.       Use statistical process control techniques.       Ensure work area is maintained in a neat and orderly fashion.      Wear personal protective equipment as required and follow all safety rules and regulations.      Follow documented Work Instructions.      Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.  EDUCATION       A High School diploma or GED equivalency is preferred from an accredited institution. EXPERIENCE         Two years work experience operating Acme Gridley or Davenport multiple spindle screw machines or related experience.       Previous work experience in machine shop or manufacturing type equipment.  QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)         Successful completion of Operator Training Program.      Basic math skills, including ability to use micrometers and other measuring devices.      Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions.      Ability to use and accurately enter information into a computer.      Ability to inspect parts, visual acuity.      Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.      Ability to stand for long period of time.      Proficiency in English language skills, including effective verbal and written communication.      Willingness and ability to work extended hours, including overtime and weekends as required.
